Bored and Hungry Seoul : World’s 1st NFT Burger Joint in Seongsu-dong
If you’ve been scrolling through Seoul food content lately, you’ve probably seen a burger joint covered in cartoon apes. That’s Bored and Hungry Seoul — and yes, it’s exactly as wild as it looks.
Located in Seongsu-dong, the neighborhood often called the Brooklyn of Seoul, Bored & Hungry is the world’s first restaurant themed around the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection. But don’t let the Web3 origins fool you — the smash burgers here are the real deal.

We stopped by the Seongsu location to see what the hype was about. Here’s the full rundown.
How Bored & Hungry Started
The story begins in Long Beach, California. In March 2022, restaurateur Andy Nguyen — already known for founding Afters Ice Cream and other food concepts — purchased Bored Ape #6184 for $267,000. The ape in the striped shirt became the face of a new smash burger brand.
On April 9, 2022, Bored & Hungry opened as a 90-day pop-up. Over 1,500 people showed up on the first day. It quickly became permanent.
The burger recipe came from Trill Burgers, a smash burger concept Nguyen co-created with Houston rapper Bun B. Trill Burgers was named “America’s Best Burger” by Good Morning America in 2022 — a title Bored & Hungry carries on its branding to this day.
The original Long Beach location closed in April 2024, but by then the brand had already expanded internationally — to the Philippines, and to Seoul.
Bored and Hungry Seoul
The Seoul location first opened in Seongsu-dong in February 2024. After about 18 months, they moved to a larger space nearby in late 2025. The current Seongsu address is 32 Seongsui-ro 18-gil, Seongdong-gu, Seoul (서울시 성동구 성수이로18길 32).
There’s also a second Seoul location in Mapo-gu (서울시 마포구 광성로 6길 36), giving you two options depending on where you are in the city.
What to Order (Bored and Hungry Seoul)
The menu is intentionally small — a few items, all focused on the smash burger technique.

OG Champion Burger (₩11,900) — The signature item. A thin, crispy-edged smash patty with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and their original house sauce. If it’s your first visit, start here.
Big Shrimp OG (₩11,900) — A thick shrimp patty topped with lettuce, cheese, red onion, and toppings. A solid alternative if you want something different from beef.
Original Recipe Fries (₩5,900) — Well-seasoned fries served in a branded Bored Ape box. Worth adding to any order.
Corn Rib (₩5,900) — Roasted corn ribs. A lighter side that balances out the heavier items.
Chilliz Mutant Cheesestick — A newer menu addition. Crispy cheese sticks with some heat.
Note: Prices are based on our visit and may have changed since. Check @borednhungry_kr for the latest menu.
What the Experience Is Like in Bored and Hungry Seoul
Walking into Bored & Hungry feels like stepping inside an NFT collection brought to life.

The murals. Every wall — inside and out — is covered in BAYC artwork. Surfing apes, psychedelic waves, oversized burgers. The exterior mural alone is a photo destination before you even walk through the door.
The interior. Yellow chairs, red-and-white checkered floors, a wood-panel ceiling, vintage pendant lights. It’s a retro American diner aesthetic filtered through a Web3 lens — nostalgic and fun without being gimmicky.
The merch. A dedicated section sells BAYC-branded t-shirts (including camo prints), tote bags, tumblers, and cans of “Ape Water.” If you’re into streetwear or collectible goods, it’s worth browsing.
The details. Burgers come in custom ape-branded boxes. Fries have their own branded container. Tray liners are printed with newspaper-style Bored & Hungry graphics. There’s even an ape-shaped cardboard photo prop that comes with your meal. On the wall near the entrance sits a large-scale painting of Bored Ape #6184 — the $267K NFT that started everything.

Is Bored and Hungry Seoul Worth the Visit?
If you’re into food, design, or internet culture — yes. The smash burger technique gives the patties a crispy crust that a lot of Seoul burger spots don’t quite achieve. The atmosphere is genuinely fun. And the branding is one of the most cohesive restaurant concepts you’ll find in the city.
Even if you’ve never heard of the Bored Ape Yacht Club, it works on its own merits. The art is vibrant, the food is solid, and the experience is memorable.
It fits well as part of a broader Seongsu-dong day trip — the neighborhood is packed with cafes, pop-up shops, and creative spaces. Grab a burger, then walk it off exploring the rest of the area.
